Major Blackpool Police update on closed M55 slip road after cement mixer overturns

A slip road off the M55 is currently closed after a cement mixer vehicle overturned, with significant delays also affecting traffic on the opposite side of the motorway.

Blackpool Police said the westbound exit at Junction 2 onto Edith Rigby Way has been closed following the incident.

The force warned that the closure is expected to remain in place for some time and advised motorists to avoid the area until further notice.

Traffic on the other side of the M55 is also experiencing significant delays as a result of the incident.

Motorists are being urged to plan ahead and avoid the area where possible while the road remains closed.
