Location of new Fylde coast Specsavers revealed in former Natwest Garstang bank
The optical giant announced the news on Friday.
Specsavers has announced the opening date of their latest Fylde coast store as renovations to the premises look set to begin.
The UK's biggest optical retailer has confirmed to the Gazette that its latest Fylde Coast store will open in Garstang after agreeing a lease for the former NatWest bank building on the town’s High Street. The store is set to be ready in early spring 2027.
Local rumours that Specsavers had chosen Garstang as their newest location first emerged in March. The new Specsavers building has been vacant since June 2025, when Natwest shut the branch as part of their nationwide programme of closures.

Earlier this week, the company lodged two planning applications to Wyre Council, seeking permission to erect a large sign on the front of the former Natwest building and permission to install 8 air conditioning units around the back of the shop.
Laika Essa, Specsavers Optometry Director of the Cleveleys store, explained the exciting news: “We are very pleased to confirm that a new Specsavers store is due to open in early spring next year in Garstang. The store will offer both optics and audiology services 7 days a week.”
Renovations to the building look set to begin, and Wyre Council is expected to make a decision on the two planning applications within 8 weeks.
