A spokesperson for the force said: “Tonight, the main issue we have encountered has been vehicles parked on the zig-zag markings near zebra crossings.
“These markings are there to protect pedestrians by maintaining visibility for both drivers and those crossing the road. Parking on them creates a significant safety risk and, importantly, it is also an offence.
“As a result, we have issued two Fixed Penalty Notices this evening to drivers parked on zig-zag markings.
“An expensive place to leave your car, but fortunately for those drivers, it was only a fine on this occasion.
“We appreciate that finding a parking space can be challenging when large numbers of people are attending the same event, but road safety and consideration for local residents must remain a priority.
“Please remember that if you are found with your vehicle parked on zig-zag markings, you could also receive three penalty points on your driving licence.
Thanks to everyone who celebrated responsibly this evening. Let's make sure Bonfire Night is remembered for the fireworks, not a fine and three points.
