Deadly Live charts the development of earth and follows animals and creatures through history in a fun show, featuring life-size props, games, stunts and gags.

Speaking to the Gazette about Blackpool, his upcoming show and future plans, Steve Backshall said: “When I did Strictly, everyone wanted to come to Blackpool, and it was just as special as everyone anticipated. It’s a fantastic way to end the Deadly Live tour, because it’s somewhere that has that iconic status.

“You often find that the audiences there know how to have a good time and they know how to enjoy themselves. The warmth with which we will receive, I’m sure, is going to be absolutely amazing.”

Steve performed in Blackpool during Strictly Come Dancing 2014, where he partnered with Ola Jordan. He reached the quarter-finals before being eliminated, but managed to perform in the iconic Tower Ballroom during his time on the show.

“Blackpool has so much in terms of heritage and history,” the TV star continued. “But, you know, there’s also a lot of deprivation around Blackpool too. Anything that can bring in money, that can serve to rejuvenate the reputation of somewhere that has so much going for it, is a good thing.

“The City of Culture could be an extraordinary thing, it could be absolutely revolutionary. So huge, massive good luck to everyone that is involved, and I hope Blackpool can be successful in its bid.”
