I couldn't quite believe we got it open but Soundbox launch night was a brilliant success

“You don't get a second chance to make a first impression so it mattered to me that the customer journey was a good one.”

Blackpool’s newest addition to the night scene threw open it’s doors for the first time on Saturday to 900 people celebrating Halloween.

The launch party of Soundbox was hailed a brilliant success and owner founder Jason Fubar thanked everyone who booked tickets, showed up and partied.

Jason, who also owns Blackpool’s Retro Lounge admits he could have sold another 300 tickets for the massive event but wanted to make sure the people who were there had the best experience possible.

Afterwards Jason said on his social media page he was ‘absolutely broken and emotional’ and couldn’t quite believe they’d actually pulled it off.

He said: “I'm very emotional today, there was also moments where I couldn't quite believe we got it open.

“We deliberately took tickets off sale at 900 sales, we could have sold another 200-300 tickets but I wanted to make sure we gave the customers a better experience rather absolutely ramming it out and it be uncomfortable and see people complaining about it.

“You don't get a second chance to make a first impression so it mattered to me that the customer journey was a good one.

“Bringing back to life the Princess Theatre, a building that's 114 years old and has seen better days in recent years, was an absolutely monumental effort and has been incredibly challenging.

“We've faced some incredibly stressful situations and last night we still had some very challenging moments, but we will keep improving and make sure that every step and every event it gets better.”

Soundbox opened with multi-award winning DJs Joe Hunt and Jesse Bloch entertaining the main arena alongside Jason himself, with up-and-coming artist Reiss Ruben also headlining.

It has taken months of hard graft to transform the venue which will now operate as a multi-purpose events space rather than a standard nightclub, meaning the venue won’t be open every single week.

For Jason, the evening ended with a fall in the office due to sheer tiredness but he said it was pain he was used to.

“The graft is what it is, it's part and parcel of trying to succeed, trying to bring something back to life and trying to make sure people still have some great options when it comes to having a night out or a day out.”

The next event takes place on Saturday November 29 with Back to the Bizness.

It will feature 2 Funky 2 live on stage performing the massive 90’s anthem ‘Brothers and Sisters, plus a DJ set from The Porn Kings and an extended set from Jason with 1993-1999 tunes from the days when he was resident DJ at The Bizness. It’s an over 30s daytime event from 2pm to 10pm.
