Fylde coast nurse warns of botched Botox jabs after increase in issues in Blackpool, Lytham, and St Annes
Everything you need to know...
A Fylde coast aesthetic nurse has warned people considering Botox and other injectable treatments to think beyond price and convenience, amid an increase in patients seeking help with complications after treatments have gone wrong.
Dawn Attewell, an advanced aesthetic nurse practitioner and educator based in St Annes, says she has been seeing an increasing number of patients from Lytham, St Annes, Blackpool and surrounding areas requiring assessment and management of complications following aesthetic procedures.
Through her work at Therapy House, Dawn has become a trusted point of support for patients when treatments including Botox and lip filler have not gone to plan.

She says the growing accessibility of aesthetic injections is a concern, with treatments now widely promoted through social media and discounted offers making them increasingly tempting to consumers.
According to Dawn, this can mean some people make decisions based primarily on cost or convenience without fully considering the potential risks, the qualifications of the person carrying out the treatment or what support will be available if something goes wrong.
She is also concerned that regulation has struggled to keep pace with the rapid growth of the aesthetics industry, potentially leaving less-informed patients vulnerable when complications arise.
Dawn believes education about the risks associated with injectable treatments is therefore increasingly important.
An Independent Nurse Prescriber and Advanced Aesthetics Practitioner, Dawn has more than 15 years' experience in the medical aesthetics industry. She established Therapy House, with Dawn Attewell Aesthetics operating as its cosmetic medical off-shoot, and has treated countless patients during her career.
Her clinic is CQC-regulated and Save Face-accredited, with Dawn's work centred on clinical excellence, patient safety and natural-looking results.
