Lancashire Fire and Rescue has confirmed that crews from Garstang Fire Station carried out training exercises in the clubhouse of Garstang Sports Club.

“The exercise focused on hose management, search and rescue, casualty extraction and ventilation. Training in different locations gives firefighters the opportunity to adapt to unfamiliar surroundings and building layouts, helping to build the skills and confidence needed to respond safely and effectively when the community needs us most.”

The sports club is an integral part of the Garstang’s community life, providing pitches, changing rooms and other facilities for the town’s football, cricket and rugby teams.

There have been major renovations ongoing at the sports club over recent months, following a £600,000 investment from various different sources. A new clubhouse, as well as improved changing and showering facilities are set to be completed by the end of summer.
