Blackpool Tower turns pink for Breast Cancer Awareness Month
Capital Breakfast teamed up with breast cancer awareness charity CoppaFeel!
Blackpool Tower has been lit up pink as part of a national campaign by Capital Breakfast to raise awareness of breast cancer and encourage people to check their bodies regularly.
The landmark was illuminated thanks to a listener named Daryl from Blackpool, who responded to a call from the radio show to help turn buildings and landmarks across the UK pink for Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
The initiative took place as part of Feel Yourself Friday, with Capital Breakfast teaming up with breast cancer awareness charity CoppaFeel! to highlight the importance of getting to know your body and carrying out regular checks.

The show also encouraged listeners across the country to wear pink, but this year expanded the campaign by asking them to help illuminate landmarks and buildings in the colour. Presenters Chris Stark and Jordan North discussed the idea on air, with Stark explaining how the response from listeners had helped bring the plan to life.
He said: “We had this idea about turning buildings and landmarks across the UK pink. We thought, ‘can we actually make this happen?’ We got flooded with texts. You guys have really stepped up.”
North praised the show’s audience for getting involved, saying: “We have the best listeners in the world, bar none, so we have representatives up and down the country to see if we’ve gone pink!”
Confirming the Blackpool display, Daryl told the presenters: “Morning Capital! I can confirm that the Blackpool Tower is pink!” North responded: “That’s amazing!” Co-presenter Sian Welby added: “This is unbelievable.”
The campaign aims to raise awareness during Breast Cancer Awareness Month by encouraging people to become familiar with their bodies and make regular checks, with support from CoppaFeel!.
