Here's why Blackpool RNLI crews were spotted in the sea off Central Promenade at 11pm last night
Searches launched off Central Promenade and north of North Pier
Blackpool’s RNLI volunteers were called out twice in just over three hours on Thursday night and early Friday morning to reports of people in the sea off the resort.
At 11.18pm Thursday evening, HM Coastguard paged the RNLI volunteer crew to respond to a person in the sea off Central Promenade.

A D class lifeboat was launched immediately and made to the area, where a person was found and recovered to the lifeboat, returning to shore to be handed over for casualty care at the lifeboat station to the North West Ambulance Service.
The next call came at 2.32am, to a concern for a person seen entering the sea north of North Pier.

In foggy conditions, both D Class lifeboats, Blackpool Endeavour and Phyllis Rowan, were launched by volunteer crews, starting search patterns for the following hour.
A spokesman for Blackpool RNLI said the search was stood down at 3.40am with the matter being resolved by community partners on shore.
The spokesman added: “Thank you to our community partners at North West Ambulance Service, HM Coastguard and Blackpool Police and if you see anything of concern, call 999 and ask for the Coastguard.”
