Blackpool Pleasure Beach bosses hail 'great honour' after impressive UK Theme Park Awards haul
“It sets a brilliant standard for us, one that we’ll be working incredibly hard over the next year to build on the success.”
Blackpool Pleasure Beach’s bosses have spoken after winning an impressive eight awards at the UK Theme Park Awards yesterday.
The Blackpool Pleasure Beach Resort, who hosted yesterday’s event, was successful in eight categories including Best New Attraction, Best New Entertainment, Best Value Park and Best Northern Seaside Venue.
Speaking to the Gazette about the park’s success, James Cox, Director of Marketing, Sales and PR at the Pleasure Beach, said: “It was a great day. Not just because we got eight awards, but because we were the host of the actual awards, which was a great honour to do.
“The cherry on the cake is obviously the award wins. The gold award for Alice in Wonderland, Best Entertainment, I think is a particular highlight. It’s the first time we’ve done a different matinee production and it’s been a huge success, so to get the gold award for that is just brilliant. It was a really good day.”

The awards firmly reinvested Blackpool’s claim to be the best seaside town for thrill seekers. Alongside the Pleasure Beach’s eight accolades, the Sandcastle was also victorious and won the Best UK Waterpark Award.
Amanda Thompson OBE, CEO of Pleasure Beach Resort, also celebrated the park’s success. She said: “All of us at Pleasure Beach are absolutely thrilled to be taking home eight awards. It sets a brilliant standard for us, one that we’ll be working incredibly hard over the next year to build on the success.
"Hosting the 2026 awards has been a great privilege, we're thrilled to have the opportunity to showcase everything that makes Pleasure Beach so special and honour much of the talent within the industry.”

With the summer now over and the theme park’s season now approaching its end, James and his colleagues are now looking ahead to next year. The park will shut for winter in November and reopen in March 2027.
“For us, we’re just focused on operating the best we can in the climate that we’re in, and still continuing to invest,” he added.
“We are making sure that we are here for another 130 years, by being strategic with what we do next. There’s lots of new rides in the plans, but none of which we can really say anything about.”
