Blackpool motorists reminded Seasiders Way closed as Waterloo Road bridge works enter second week
Drivers are being reminded a key route in Blackpool is shut as improvement works on Waterloo Road bridge continue.
Motorists are being reminded that Seasiders Way is now closed in Blackpool as work continues on improvements to Waterloo Road bridge.
The road has been shut between Parkinson Way and Bloomfield Road as part of a programme of works to strengthen and refurbish the structure.

Blackpool Council confirmed contractors moved on site last week to begin the scheme, which includes structural repairs and repainting of the bridge carrying Waterloo Road over Seasiders Way.
The closure is expected to remain in place until Friday, June 26, weather permitting.

Despite the works, Waterloo Road itself remains open, with access maintained for local businesses.
The council said the project is being carried out in phases to minimise disruption, with the current work focusing on the lower section of the bridge.
Diversions are in place for motorists, with northbound traffic routed via Parkinson Way, Waterloo Road, Lytham Road and Bloomfield Road. Southbound traffic is being diverted via Bloomfield Road, Central Drive, Waterloo Road and Parkinson Way.
A second phase of works is planned for spring 2027, which will involve work on the upper bridge and require a closure of Waterloo Road.
The improvements are designed to strengthen the bridge and ensure it remains safe and operational for years to come.
The council has thanked residents and motorists for their patience while the work is carried out.
