Blackpool Beach Patrol update as dog and owner cut off by tide with 'minutes to spare' in sea drama
“Seconds count - if you see anything of concern on the beach or at sea, call 999 and ask for the Coastguard”
A person and their dog were dramatically rescued with ‘minutes to spare’ after they were cut off by the tide.
Blackpool RNLI were called on Saturday morning to South Shore when the flooding, incoming spring tide cut them off.
At the same time, Blackpool Council Beach Patrol were also tasked to respond and managed to rescue them safely, bringing them both back to the safety of nearby steps.

RNLI volunteers stood down after receiving news they had been taken to shore.
A spokesperson said: “This clearly demonstrates the team work that goes into keeping Blackpool safe, and the great resource that is the Council Beach Patrol, along with our Coastguard response teams.
“The collective objective of Saving Lives at Sea is something we are proud of.

“As yesterday, when seconds count, if you see anything of concern on the beach or at sea, call 999 and ask for the Coastguard.
“Be aware of the tide and the fact that very quickly, the sea can cut off sandbanks from the shore.”
