Blackpool-born adventurer Jordan Wylie suffers injury setback ahead of Everest challenge
“For now, my mountain is recovery.”
Blackpool-born adventurer and bestselling author Jordan Wylie MBE has suffered an injury setback as he prepares for his Xtreme Everest challenge.
Wylie, an award-winning adventurer and familiar face on television after appearing on Channel 4’s Hunted and Celebrity Hunted, has revealed that he has been undergoing MRI scans, X-rays, physiotherapy and specialist assessments.
He has been diagnosed with quadriceps tendinopathy, a fractured ankle and torn ligaments.

Sharing an update, Wylie said: “MRI scans, X-rays, physios and specialists. Quadriceps tendinopathy, a fractured ankle and torn ligaments, it’s fair to say this week hasn’t gone to plan. I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t feeling depressed and low. I’m frustrated and disappointed, but the road to Xtreme Everest was never going to be easy.
“For now, my mountain is recovery: listening to the specialists, committing to rehabilitation and taking it one day at a time. Everest remains the ultimate goal and luckily time is on my side at present. This is a setback and I will be back stronger very soon, I promise. Resilience is revealed when everything is against us, yet we still choose to keep moving forward.”
Despite the setback, Wylie said Everest remains his ultimate goal and that he will now focus on his recovery and rehabilitation.
The Blackpool-born adventurer is also backing his home town's bid to become UK City of Culture 2029.
