Royal Lytham & St Annes’ Jamie van Wyk is in the England team for next week’s Home Internationals.
Royal Lytham & St Annes’ Jamie van Wyk has been named in the England Golf team for next week’s Home Internationals.
With the eyes of the golfing world on the Fylde coast this week as the 50th Women’s Open is played at RL&SA, it was confirmed that home player van Wyk will be back on England duty.
He is one of nine men and seven women chosen for the combined men’s and women’s event at Woodbrook Golf Club in County Wicklow.
The matches in Ireland will be played from August 5-7, with England having won three of the four events since the women’s and men’s Home Internationals were combined in 2022.
Van Wyk was the only unbeaten player as England won their 2026 international match against France at Golf de Chantilly, winning three matches with one tie.
This year has also seen him finish second at the Walton Heath Trophy and the Avondale Amateur in Australia, as well as taking third place at the Australian Master of the Amateurs.
He was also part of the England team which won last year women’s and men’s home internationals, holing the decisive putt at Woodhall Spa.
As well as van Wyk, the England men’s team next week comprises: Ben Bolton (Enville), Jenson Bull (Parkstone), Ed Featherstone (Sheringham), Daniel Hayes (Bramhall), Lewy Hayward (Marlborough), Greg Holmes (Royal Birkdale), Max Hopkins (Bishop’s Stortford) and Harley Smith (The Rayleigh).
Hill Valley’s Lauren Crump, one of the qualifiers for this week’s AIG Women’s Open, takes her place in the England women’s team.
Also chosen are: Sophia Fullbrook (Brocket Hall), Lily Hirst (Huddersfield), Charlotte Naughton (Longhirst Hall), Nellie Ong (Eaton) and the Bernham & Berrow duo of Patience Rhodes and Davina Xanh.
The girls’ and boys’ home internationals are also played next week, taking place from August 4-6 at Monifieth Golf Links in Scotland.
