The first half was a tough one for Lytham, who had players trying out new positions against a Prescot team whose high press saw them on the attack.

That high press was taken advantage of as Prescot established a 5-0 lead at half-time.

Jade Yarwood had a couple of shots on target, while a short corner ended with the ball coming off the keeper’s pad and then going inside it.

Although Prescot managed a further goal, they were frustrated by Lytham’s team effort in the second half.

The seconds played well despite losing 3-1 against Lancaster’s second team.

Despite putting Lancaster under early pressure, Lytham eventually conceded twice towards the end of the first half.

Gemma Pritchard pulled a goal back in the second half, only for Lancaster to score again shortly afterwards.

There was also a defeat for the men’s first team as they went down 5-1 against Wigton.

Lytham started strongly, opening the scoring through Adam Dixon, but Wigton rallied to lead 2-1 at half-time.

They added a further three goals after the break as Lytham struggled to create opportunities.

However, there was success for the seconds as they defeated Keswick 4-0.

After starting the game slowly, Lytham went 2-0 up through Tom Atkinson’s double.

Joe Briggs’ fifth of the season made it 3-0 before Archie Brown completed the scoring.
