Two wins which launched a Perfect Ten

Having started the sequence with Bloomfield Road victories over Crewe Alexandra and Tranmere Rovers, Pool took their winning form on to the road with a 2-0 success at Huddersfield Town on Easter Monday.

A goal in each half did the trick, Claus Jorgensen putting Pool in front on 29 minutes, after Keigan Parker’s effort was cleared off the line.

Williams sealed the points with a close-range strike in the 59th minute, reacting first to the rebound after Ian Evatt’s header had been parried by Matt Glennon.

The match also marked the Blackpool debut of goalkeeper Joe Hart, who was still 19 and arrived on loan from Manchester City to ease the club’s injury crisis.

The debutant made three greats to deny Mark Hudson, Luke Beckett and Frank Sinclair.

Hart was in fine form again the following Saturday in a game of two halves against Northampton Town at Bloomfield Road.

Despite more heroics from the on-loan keeper, Hart conceded his first goal in a Blackpool shirt three minutes before half-time as Simon Cox gave the Cobblers an interval lead.

But Pool were transformed in the second period and ran out 4-1 winners, substitute Chris Brandon equalising four minutes after the restart.

Blackpool went ahead six minutes later, when Wes Hoolahan converted a penalty awarded for handball against Sean Dyche.

Simon Grayson’s half-time introduction of Brandon looked inspired as he notched his second on 62 minutes, and future boss Dyche’s miserable day was completed by an own goal seven minutes from time.

Pool fielded the same starting XI in both games: Hart, Barker, Jackson, Evatt, Williams, Hoolahan, Jorgensen, Southern, Forbes, Morrell, Parker.
