New date will be needed for AFC Fylde's NLN match at Hereford

AFC Fylde have another free matchday following the postponement of Saturday’s scheduled National League North game at Hereford FC.

The match at Edgar Street was postponed because of a waterlogged pitch, with an inspection having taken place at 2pm on Friday.

It is the Coasters’ second game to be called off in a week-and-a-half, following on from the postponed match at South Shields on January 27.

Announcing the postponement, a Hereford statement said: “A qualified match official attended in consultation with the match referee, who has the sole authority to postpone the fixture.

“A new date will be announced in due course. Supporters who have purchased tickets to tomorrow’s game are asked to wait for the rearranged date to be confirmed before applying for a refund. No refunds will be made prior to the new date being arranged.

“Once the new date has been arranged, supporters will be emailed with details on how to claim a refund or transfer their ticket to another game if required.

“Tickets already purchased will remain valid for the new date.”

Saturday’s game was due to be the second time that Hereford and Fylde had met this year, following on from their FA Trophy tie at Edgar Street on January 10.

That match, however, was the last time Hereford had played at home this season amid a drainage issue with their pitch.

It leaves them second-bottom of the National League North table, but – at present – with as many as seven games in hand on the sides in and around them.
