The 28-year-old was among 14 senior players released by relegated Bolton Wanderers and it was reported that both Fylde coast clubs were interested in Lowe to fill vacancies at the heart of midfield.

Lowe, who has been at Bolton for the past two seasons having spent most of his career with Blackburn Rovers, follows Town winger Ash Hunter in signing for Graham Alexander’s League Two club.

Blackpool have already been busy in the transfer market, with ex-Rotherham striker Jerry Yates among five new additions.

Yates had a highly successful loan spell last season with League Two champions Swindon Town, playing alongside another of Blackpool’s new arrivals, Keshi Anderson.

And Anderson used his own powers of persuasion to make the reunion happen at Bloomfield Road.

Yates explained: “I spoke to Keshi a few times and he persuaded me a few times as well, so I took on board what he had to say. I’ll bring a positive mindset from a good season at Swindon and hopefully do the same here.”
