Josh thrilled to get back into scoring habit

Morris rejoined the Cod Army last summer after three seasons with Scunthorpe and hit the ground running, scoring in his first two games.

Now he is welcoming the new faces this season, such as Morgan Boyes, who arrived on loan from Liverpool last week and made his first appearance in the 2-0 win over Stockport County on Saturday.

Morris doesn’t think any of the new arrivals will have trouble making themselves at home.

Morris said: “It’s a good group of lads, I found that when I came last year and it’s pretty easy to settle in.

“It’s been good to meet the new guys. They played with us through pre-season and it’s good to see them doing well. They look good.”

So far in pre-season, Fleetwood have started with a senior XI and brought younger players on. Ryan Rydel and Barry Baggley are among those to feature and Morris said: “That’s what the academy is for – to produce players to come into the first team.

“As long as they carry on working hard and grafting away, they will be all right.

“It’s a test for them to know the level they need to be at to get into the first team and the physicality that is needed, but they’re learning every day.

“They’re training hard and they have the right attitude, which is half of the battle.”
