The visitors enjoyed the lion’s share of first half pressure but it was Fleetwood who had the better of the chances.

Josh Morris and Gareth Evans could both have opened the scoring just before the break, Morris with a shot cleared off the line, Evans blast on the rebound tipped wide by Paul Rachubka.

Town ended the first half strong but were well off the pace at the start of the second.

And it was only a matter of time before Carl Winchester grabbed the lead for the visitors, allowed to dance across the 18 yard line, picking his spot and curling the ball superbly past Chris Maxwell.

The Fleetwood keeper could do nothing about it, or about the second.

Sloppy defending gave Oldham a free kick on the edge ofthe box , Mike Jones smashing it past the outside of the wall and inside the post.

The home side did pick up the tempo, suub Nick Haughton going closest to pulling one back with a shot from six yards, cleared off the line.

There was a welcome return too for David Ball, looking lively on his return.

But the damage was already done, a lacklustre opening to the second half ever so costly, the Highbury slump showing no sign of abating.
