Bowyer spent more than a decade at Ewood Park having originally worked as a youth coach and a reserve coach, before taking reigns of the first team in 2013

Blackburn could be relegated as soon as this weekend if they fail to beat Aston Villa and other results go against them.

“I’d be gutted, I don’t want them to go down at all,” Bowyer said.

“I think you look at their squad, they’ve got far too much quality.

“It would upset me, I would be upset because I had 11-and-a-half years there and I know the implications if they got relegated on the people and I don’t want that.

“That wouldn’t be good so hopefully they can get a result.”
