Blackpool learned lessons the hard way admits Nathan Delfouneso

Delfouneso said: “Yeah, it does feel like a defeat, especially when you concede so late and thought you were on top.

“Even though I managed to get a goal, I feel guilty at the same time. The goalkeeper has probably made some good saves but I know I could have at least put another one away.

“When you don’t put chances away, there’s always that risk of conceding one and losing two points.

“A bit of game-management might have helped. Maybe we should have kept the ball a bit better at certain times in certain areas, instead of trying to do more. Maybe we should have thought about it more .

“But we’ve got to take positives out of it, even though it was a bit disappointing.”

Despite Saturday’s setback, Pool will look back on a positive week which saw them claim four points from home games against Coventry City and Accrington.

Delfouneso added: “You’ve got to remember we’re still a new team. There have been a lot of changes on and off the field to deal with, both players and staff, but we’re getting there.

“We’ve got to keep improving and working hard every day, and I’m sure we’re going to see positive stuff coming from everybody.

“We can’t dwell on it too much. We’ve got to learn from stuff we could have done better and take that into our next game.”

Pool travel to South Yorkshire to take on League One rivals Doncaster Rovers in the second round of the League Cup tonight.

The Seasiders are again expected to make changes but Delfouneso insists it’s a game they will not take lightly.

“We’re looking forward to it,” he said. “We’ve got to recover. We’ve got to get going again and the focus is now in Tuesday. We want to go through and do well.

“We will be going all out. Everyone in the changing room is keen to go through and go as far as possible.”
