Some clubs in League One and Two have already put season tickets on sale but, with so much uncertainty still surrounding when fans will be able to return to stadiums, the Seasiders have opted to hang fire for the time being.

Chief executive Ben Mansford said ticketing options will be revealed at the earliest opportunity.

He told The Gazette: “We took the view that, and I’m sure supporters will understand this, we probably need to see fixtures being announced before we do anything.

“Let’s work with the EFL to see what it means, and when we’ve got more clarity we can go back to supporters and say, ‘This is what it looks like and this is the pricing model’.

“If you were on sale before Covid came along, then okay. But to go on sale when there’s so much uncertainty, I’m not sure about that. So we’ve taken the decision to wait. We’ve done a lot of work. We’re ready and I hope at the earliest opportunity we’re able to announce exactly what is going to happen next season.

“It’s important to get those on sale to get some much-needed finance but I think we need some more clarity before we do that.”

Mansford also thanked the club’s supporters for their response to the initiatives Blackpool set out relating to season ticket refunds.

“We were very fortunate that a lot of the supporters were happy for their hard-earned cash to stay within the club,” he added.

“We fully respect that a number of our supporters, through some difficult circumstances, needed to take the refund and of course we processed all of those.

“Our commercial partners and corporate hospitality supporters also supported the club in an identical way to the season ticket holders.

“We’re very grateful for that. We’re talking about a very significant percentage that did that and I thank everyone.

“There were also some fantastic messages from those that did ask for refunds, who said they loved the club and would be back inside Bloomfield Road if everything goes well in the coming weeks and months.

“It’s a huge thank you to those supporters.”
