'We restricted them to virtually nothing': Neil Critchley delighted with Blackpo...

Sullay Kaikai scored midway through the second-half on his return from injury to hand the Seasiders a crucial victory, just their second of the league campaign.

It was otherwise a fairly lacklustre encounter with both sides looking low on quality, but Blackpool did what was required to claim a win that takes them out of League One's bottom four.

"It's pretty much the same as every away game we've had so far this season," a frustrated Martin said post-match.

"Let's get it right, for the final 20 minutes they just booted the ball back to us every time to keep it as far away from the goal as they could. That makes it really difficult to build up any momentum.

"This is probably the shortest interview I'll do. I'm fed up with coming out after games and saying we limited teams to two shots, but they win 1-0.

"We have to accept there will be some games where we're not really fluid or creative, but we gave them absolutely nothing and the minimum we should come away is 0-0. It's as simple as that.

"We had control of the game without creating anything. They tried to catch us on the counter-attack with the two wide guys in behind but it didn't happen, but they do it once and they score a goal. We had control of the game without creating anything.

"Credit to Blackpool, they did well and we weren't as fluid as we should be. But they were dead on their feet before they scored, no doubt about it.

"Look at their centre-halves, every time the ball went out of play they were breathing, they were bending over trying to get their breath back in but we let them off with a goal.

"We had control of the game and they had to work seriously hard to stop us."
