The 33-year-old was linked with a move to Bloomfield Road last month after being filmed in Manchester in an Instagram video alongside new Blackpool signings Keshi Anderson and Jerry Yates.

All three were team-mates at Swindon last season, Yates on loan from Rotherham United.

But BBC Wiltshire Sport are reporting that Grant, who was voted Swindon’s player of the season last term, has signed a one-year extension to remain at the County Ground.

Grant, who will line up against the Seasiders in League One next season, joined the Robins on a short-term contract in January after enjoying an initial loan spell from Shrewsbury Town.

The former Chelsea youngster has around 500 EFL appearances to his name, including spells with Southend United, Crewe Alexandra, Port Vale and Peterborough United. The Londoner played 30 times for Swindon in League Two last season.

The Seasiders will still be keen to bring in midfield reinforcements with only Matty Virtue and the untested Ben Garrity and Will Antwi capable of playing in the centre of the park.

In a recent interview with BBC Radio Lancashire, Pool head coach Neil Critchley says the Seasiders - who have already brought in five new faces - are still in the market for fresh signings.

He said: “Obviously the window is still open until October so we’ve still got a couple of months ahead of us.

“The market isn’t moving all the time - Covid has obviously played a big part in that, there are lots of players out of contract.

“You always have to be ready to move if you feel necessary, so we’ve still got our eyes open.

“If someone becomes available that we feel is right for us then...I have to say the support that has been given to me - in uncertain times - has been quite fantastic.”
