Blackpool FC transfer deadline day - live updates

Key Events

  • Seasiders have until 11pm to complete their business
  • Josh Bowler to stay despite Forest and Bournemouth interest
  • Failed bids for Cameron Brannagan and Ollie Norburn
  • Bez Lubala completes loan move to Northampton, Joe Nuttall joins Scunthorpe

The Sun’s Alan Nixon, speaking on BBC Radio Lancashire this evening, has provided an update on Blackpool’s transfer business:

“Forest messed around (for Bowler) and offered too little at the start of the window, which was a little bit cheeky and that’s why he’s still at Blackpool,” he said.

“That’s left the door open for Bournemouth to have a sniff as well. I’m told Bournemouth are still at it so that might be one we’re watching right until 11pm.

“If they were to lose him and maybe spend the money on two or three players, then you’d say it’s not a bad rescue act.

“They’re trying to change and update the squad that was in League One last year, so it’s acceptable to see one go out and get two or three in.

“Bowler is a very good player and if you’re Forest or Bournemouth and you’re both going for promotion, Bowler is the kind of guy who will help you a great deal which tells you what a good player Blackpool signed.

“If I was a Blackpool fan, I’d be watching the tele with one eye shut and saying ‘no, no, I don’t want to see that name come up’ because it might be one that goes through.

“If it does happen, then I would hope Blackpool are able to pull a couple of players through. The Brannagan thing keeps getting mentioned and Norburn is one they would still do, although all the best dealing with Peterborough.

“They are active though, so if I was a Blackpool fan I’d stay up late tonight. There might yet to be a bit of action.”

6.30pm: A temporary departure from the youth team

6.10pm: Oxford confirm the signing of a midfielder

6.10pm: Update on Huddersfield’s rumoured interest in Rogers

6pm: The full story on Josh Bowler

It’s oddly apt that I’m currently chopping some onions given the news I brought to you just after 5pm.

It’s fair to say Blackpool fans would be absolutely gutted were Bowler to move on given how well he’s performed for Neil Critchley’s side this season.

5.40pm: Forest expecting a busy night

5.10pm: Latest on Bowler

It’s not the update I want to bring you, but I’m hearing Nottingham Forest’s pursuit of Josh Bowler might not be over after all..

Sources have told me Forest are creeping ever closer to Blackpool’s asking price.

5pm: A small update on Brannagan

There’s no news yet on whether or not Oxford have rejected Blackpool’s latest bid for Cameron Brannagan, but the message coming out of the Kassam is very much “our player is not for sale”.

Whether that changes between now and 11pm, we’ll have to wait and see.

4.15pm: Still no news on Nuttall

Keith Hill promised Scunthorpe fans a busy day of new signings, suggesting they could make as many as four, but none have been announced as yet.

As far as I’m aware, the deal for Joe Nuttall to make the move to Glanford Park was all agreed last week, it was just reliant on Scunny shifting players out players first.

The League Two strugglers are under transfer restrictions and it’s a case of balancing the books before they can bring players in.

Nevertheless, that’s one to keep an eye on between now and 11pm.

4pm: Latest from Peterborough

Football Insider is reporting that Reece Brown to Peterborough is a go-er, which could well free up Ollie Norburn to join Blackpool.

When Brown officially signs, he’ll become the second central midfielder to sign for Posh in the last few days.
