The Seasiders continue to follow the EFL’s guidance, meaning they won’t be returning to training until May 16 at the earliest.

Under the EFL’s plans, League One could resume in June, with the remainder of the 2019/20 campaign rushed through in eight weeks.

Pool’s players remain in constant contact with one another ahead of a potential return.

Spearing said: “We have a WhatsApp group with the lads, and everyone keeps sending things and updating everyone with what they’re up to. Everybody is itching to get back.

“There’s a few trying to get away from the wives, but it’s just been a case of missing the football and that routine of getting up, going to training, doing the work and coming back.

“That routine is a massive factor you miss.”

As for his current routine, the Seasiders captain explained: “Over the last few days I’ve had some jobs: I’ve been an English teacher, a maths teacher, a builder, a chef and a bike instructor as I’m teaching my daughter how to ride her bike. So I’m doing a bit of everything at the minute.

“It brings it all back and you think, ‘Am I doing this right or not?’”

Spearing is one of several players who have been calling supporters stuck in isolation, something the 31-year-old believes is very important.

The former Liverpool man added: “The fans have been fantastic in supporting us all year round and it’s important that we show that same support back, especially in times like this.

“We understand how tough it will be during this period of isolation, and we want to make sure that people are coping well and keeping their spirits up.

“It’s been nice to chat with the supporters I’ve called. I know they’re all looking forward to being back at Bloomfield Road and cheering the lads on in the future.”
