The 24-year-old’s last appearance for the Seasiders was in mid-January at Lincoln City and his last start was at Rotherham United on New Year’s Day.

The six-goal forward had looked set to return earlier in the campaign only to suffer a fresh setback in training.

Replying to fans in an online Q&A, Kaikai insists he is now fully fit and ready to go whenever football returns.

“I’m ready to fight for a place in the squad again,” the former Crystal Palace man said.

“I’d say the break has helped me to get that extra time to make sure I’m fully fit for when we start playing again.”

Mystery has surrounded Kaikai’s injury for much of the campaign, with former boss Simon Grayson telling The Gazette it was an issue with his groin/abductor.

But it has also been suggested the forward has been struggling with his hip and abdomen.

Head coach Neil Critchley, speaking to The Gazette at the start of last month, said part of the problem was identifying exactly what the issue was.

But prior to the coronavirus outbreak, Critchley was hopeful of seeing Kaikai back on the pitch sooner rather than later.

The Pool boss said: “That’s partly been the problem – getting to the bottom of his issue.

“We think we’ve found the solution or are close to finding the solution. He’s back on the grass, which is obviously a positive sign.

“We just hope now that when he starts to build on his rehab there are no complications and setbacks.

“If there aren’t, then I’m hoping we can get him back playing in the team before the end of the season.”
