The Trotters cruised to a final day 4-1 victory away at Crawley Town to seal the third automatic promotion spot, finishing just one point ahead of Morecambe.

It caps off an instant return to the third tier for Bolton and a second straight promotion for Evatt, who led Barrow to the National League title last season.

He's been helped by former Seasiders Matt Gilks, Alex Baptiste, MJ Williams and Nathan Delfouneso, who have all featured regularly for Wanderers this term.

Both Cheltenham Town and Cambridge United have also been promoted to League One

Morecambe, Newport County, Forest Green and Tranmere Rovers will contest the play-offs.

In the Championship, meanwhile, Derby County avoided relegation following some last-day drama, condemning Sheffield Wednesday, Rotherham United and Wycombe Wanderers to League One instead.
