Ian Evatt issues immediate reaction to Blackpool's victory over Peterborough United
Blackpool claimed a 4-0 victory over Peterborough United to make it seven points from their opening three League One games.
Ian Evatt was pleased with the outcome of Blackpool’s 4-0 victory over Peterborough United - but was still left wanting more.
Building on their 2-1 win away to Stockport County last week, with Seasiders took control of the contest against the Posh with goals in quick succession from Jordan Williams and Dion Charles.
On the opposite side of the break, Karoy Anderson extended the lead further, before Jerry Yates marked his Fylde Coast return with a one off the bench.
“It’s a fantastic result,” Evatt said.
“Winning 4-0 at home and Jerry scoring on his comeback feels like the perfect day.
“I didn’t like the first half very much - I’ve got to be honest. I didn’t like the way we started the game, I felt there was a bit of a hangover from Tuesday. It was the goal that settled us, that’s the importance of set plays.
“I just thought we lost too many duels in the first half, and didn’t play with the fizz that I want us to play with.
“As good as it was, there’s still loads to improve on. At half time, it’s always important that I give the players honesty, and I just didn’t like it very much. I thought we needed to up our game, and we did in the second half.
“It was like two boxers with very little guard just throwing punches at each other, and I backed our lads to knock them out before they knocked us out.
“In the second half we did things better. We stopped their fast attacks and didn’t give up as many chances as we did earlier in the game.
“To beat Peterborough you have to be brave and press high to almost make it a basketball game - we did that well at times but could do better at other times. This team is still developing and that’s a good place to be with how we started the season.”
