Ian Evatt issues immediate reaction to Blackpool's victory over Peterborough United
Blackpool secured a crucial 3-1 victory over Peterborough United.
Ian Evatt states Blackpool should’ve been even more comfortable in their 3-1 victory over Peterborough United at Bloomfield Road - but was happy with the way his side went about their business.
Dale Taylor was on hand with a brace for the Seasiders, while Tom Bloxham was also on the scoresheet.
Brandon Khela claimed what proved to be a consolation for the visitors in the first half, as the Fylde Coast outfit saw out the game with 10-men, after losing Fraser Horsfall to a red card on the hour mark, as they kept themselves four points above the League One relegation zone.
“There’s still more to do with still one home game to go, and we know how important that is,” Evatt said.
“I thought we were brilliant for large parts of today, we executed the game plan superbly. We pressed them, we had energy, we had legs, we had intensity.
“Whether it’s the Blackpool way or not, we just don’t make it comfortable or easy for ourselves - that game should’ve been extremely comfortable.
“We were in total control in the first half and we made an individual mistake, and then after one error, the guy put it in the top corner. You just think ‘everything seems to be going against us.’
“We responded. In the second half we were on top, we needed the goals, and we got them.
“When we’re in control again, we make another error, and now we’re going to be missing Fraser for two games - which is hard to take when we’ve done so much right.
“We mustn’t forget the good work we’ve done, we were outstanding - I enjoyed what I saw today.
“We’ve lost some confidence post-Christmas, but we’ve worked a lot on the training pitch on how we play. Possession isn’t for vanity, it’s for a purpose, and we did that today. We pressed with a purpose.
“Our midfield players, Karoy (Anderson) in particular, covered so much ground. I called him a pressing monster after Cardiff, and today, he outdid that performance - it was magnificent.”
In his post match interview, Evatt also sent out his thoughts to the fan who required medical assistance during the second half.
“There’s no updates yet,” he stated.
“It’s obviously really difficult and really sad. Thoughts and prayers are with the guy’s family. We are a Tangerine family, we are all one.”
