How much Blackpool and Fleetwood Town spent on agents’ fees and how it compares to Hull City, Ipswich Town, Sunderland and others

Blackpool spent just £79,416 in agents’ fees last year according to new figures released by the FA.

That’s a drop of almost £20,000 from the previous year, when the Seasiders spent £98,848.

The figures, which apply for the period between February 1, 2020 and February 1, 2021, show that Fleetwood Town paid just £35,948, a steep drop from the £178,535 they spent the previous year.

The biggest spenders in League One were league leaders Hull City, who shipped out an eye-watering £543,238.

They’re followed by Sunderland (£406,207), Ipswich Town (£341,622), Oxford United (£298,576) and Charlton Athletic (£298,576).

Gillingham didn’t spend a single penny, the only club in England’s top four ties to do so, while Crewe Alexandra spent just £4,500.

Swindon Town (£21,632), Wigan Athletic (£25,000), Rochdale (£25,258) and Accrington Stanley ((£27,545) were also among the lowest spenders.

In total, just over £3m was spent by League One clubs on agents’ fees last year. League Two clubs spent £1m, Championships clubs £40.7m and Premier League clubs £272m.

During this period, the Seasiders paid fees for the likes of Daniel Gretarsson, CJ Hamilton, Bez Lubala and Jerry Yates.

Fleetwood, meanwhile, spent cash on Chris Conn-Clarke, Sam Stubbs and Jake Wallace.

Dropping down to non-league, AFC Fylde were among the highest spenders during their relegation season from the National League, paying £18,388.

That puts them behind Notts County (£57,958), Stockport County (£46,275) and Solihull Moors (£25,218).
