Blackburn weren’t much better, but they did enough to take all three points to move up to fourth place in the table.

“I’m pleased, it’s a win in front of our fans. I think it was a well deserved win as well,” Tomasson said.

“Big praise to the players. It’s been a tough schedule but we’ve dealt with it in a tremendous way.

“We played some good football and created some good opportunities, but the frustrating thing is we didn’t get a second goal.

“We controlled the game though and I think the fans enjoyed it. We have the double over our local rivals now so it’s been a good night.

Blackpool are fighting for their lives but we controlled the game in a positive way.”

Tomasson was especially pleased with the nature of Blackburn’s goal, which was a well-worked move from their point of view.

“It’s good to see things we worked on in training come to fruition for the goal,” he added.

“We controlled the game. Big, big effort from the lads, they’ve done an excellent job. I saw some good football.

“It’s another win at home, we’ve had some good wins in front of our fans which is important.

“We’re fourth in the table but we’re not looking at that.”
