LIVE: Carlisle United v Blackpool
Key Events
- FT: Carlisle 0-1 Blackpool
- Seasiders continue their pre-season preparations with pre-season runout at Brunton Park
- Just two weeks remain until Championship campaign gets underway
16 - Carlisle chance
Carlisle venture forward for the first time, as they work the ball down the right. They tee it up for Lewis Bell on the edge of the Blackpool box but he scuffs his effort well wide.
14 - Blocked
A sight of goal for Keshi Anderson, whose shot from CJ Hamilton’s pullback is well blocked for a Pool corner.
Luke Garbutt stands over it.
11 - Early impressions
I know we’ve only played 11 minutes, but Carlisle are looking...nervy?
Big centre-back Aaron Hayden has just almost scored an embarrassing own goal, over-playing a pass back to keeper Lukas Jensen who just managed to control it before it skipped past him.
9 - Promising
Despite the absentees, Pool are looking bright here. They’re pinning Carlisle into their own half and looking very comfortable.
A Luke Garbutt corner causes some confusion inside the Carlisle box. The ball almost drops to Marvin Ekpiteta, but the home defence scramble it clear.
4 - Free-kick
CJ Hamilton, playing over on the left, does Carlisle right-back Corey Whelan for pace (surprise!). Whelan knows he’s beat and pulls him back.
In a normal league game, that’s a stonewall yellow.
3 - Close
Demetri Mitchell cuts in from the right and delivers a tasty-looking curling cross to Jerry Yates at the back post, but last season’s top scorer - at full stretch - can only head wide. Good play.
2 - Early exchanges
Carlisle have looked for the long ball over the top on a couple of occasions already, but the Seasiders’ back four - James Husband in particular - have dealt with them well.
Pool are looking neat and tidy in possession as you’d expect. CJ Hamilton wins Pool an early corner.
The teams are out
And kick-off is just moments away.
What a setting, by the way. Brunton Park is basked in sunshine and it’s great to see supporters from both sides in attendance.
Keep checking in for regular updates.
A closer look at the missing 16
Daniel Grimshaw, Stuart Moore, Oliver Casey, Daniel Gretarsson, Teddy Howe, Reece James, Jordan Thorniley, Cameron Antwi, Josh Bowler, Kenny Dougall, Kevin Stewart, Matty Virtue, Bez Lubala, Shayne Lavery, Gary Madine and Joe Madine are all absent today.
With just two weeks until the new season gets underway, that’s far from ideal.
