Blackpool striker's fond memories of Harrogate Town loan spell

Blackpool striker Jerry Yates says his brief loan spell with Harrogate Town during the early stages of his career helped mould him into the player he is today.

The in-form forward scored four goals in eight games for Harrogate during the 2015/16 season, while on loan from Rotherham United.

He had previously made his first senior appearance during a loan spell with Harrogate Railway Athletic the previous season.

Yates is looking forward to returning to the Yorkshire town as the Seasiders look to reach the third round of the FA Cup.

Harrogate boss wary of Blackpool's threat

“It kickstarted my professional career, so I really enjoyed it there and it will be nice to go back.

“I got called back from them both but the team was up-and-coming and we were fighting for promotion from the National League North at the time.

“It was my first sniff of men’s football and it was a big experience for me. It woke me up a little bit as I took a few hits early doors, so I was a bit nervous. It made me what I am today, so I’m forever grateful for the experience.”
