Ex-Blackpool and Huddersfield Town boss resigns from National League role after just nine games
Lee Clark endured a tough time with Blackpool over a decade ago - and hasn’t enjoyed much success since.
Former Blackpool head coach Lee Clark has resigned from his latest role after just nine games in charge.
The 53-year-old was appointed as Hartlepool United manager during the off-season, but has departed less than two months into the campaign after a tough start to National League proceedings, with six defeats coming the way of the North East outfit.
A 3-1 loss to Worthing on Saturday afternoon prompted the ex-Newcastle United midfielder to announce his Victoria Park exit in the aftermath.
In a statement, the Pools wrote: “Hartlepool United Football Club can confirm that Lee Clark has resigned from his position as head coach with immediate effect.
“We would like to thank Lee for his service during his time at the club and wish him every success for the future.”
After starting his managerial career with Huddersfield Town and Birmingham City, Clark’s time on the Fylde Coast came back in the 2014/15 campaign, and proved to be unsuccessful for both parties.
In 32 games under the former England youth international, Blackpool managed just three victories, leaving him with a nine percent win rate.
Further roles in the UK for Clark came with Kilmarnock, Bury and Blyth Spartans, before taking on opportunities abroad; prior to a four-year spell out of the dugout.
He returned to work earlier this year with Rotherham United - where he was unable to transform their fortunes as they suffered relegation to League Two.
