Blackpool boss shares transfer thoughts as he responds to reported battle with Lincoln City

Blackpool have recently been linked with Northern Ireland youth international Eoin Kenny.

Conversations are underway concerning Blackpool’s approach to the January transfer window - but a definitive plan is yet to be put in place.

The Seasiders made a number of signings during the summer, as they set their sights on pushing for promotion at the top end of the League One.

Things ultimately haven’t worked out that way, with some of new additions still searching for consistency, leaving the club currently sat in the third tier’s bottom four.

Back in October, Steve Bruce was sacked and Ian Evatt was named as his replacement, which brought a change of formation.

After spending the last two windows moving away from a wing-back based system, Blackpool will once again be setting their sights on players who suit that style of play.

First name linked

While we are still weeks off the transfer season officially getting underway, names are already starting to be linked.

Football League World have reported that the Seasiders, alongside Lincoln City, are looking at teenage striker Eoin Kenny - who scored 10 goals and provided eight assists in the recent League of Ireland first division.

When asked about the links with the out-of-contract Dundalk forward, Blackpool head coach Ian Evatt said: “He’s not a player I’m aware of, or aware that we’re looking at, so that’s a no.

“In terms of improving the squad - it doesn’t matter what position, we want to sign players to improve. I have a great relationship with David (Downes) and the rest of the recruitment team.

“A lot of conversations are happening behind-the-scenes, but there’s no definitive plans yet, but there’s lots of proactive conversations, so by January we will be ready for it.”
