Barnsley manager Neill Collins says his side are capable of beating anyone and will be seeking a response against Blackpool this weekend.

Collins brings his Barnsley side to Bloomfield Road for their penultimate fixture of the season in what is a huge clash in terms of the race for the play-offs. Blackpool are still in with a chance of extending their season in to May but this is a must-win fixture for Neil Critchley's men.

The visitors come in to the game on the back of a 3-2 defeat to Portsmouth on Tuesday night. Devante Cole and John McAtee twice gave the Yorkshire outfit the lead but the league leaders came back and eventually won the game to lift the League One title.

Barnsley have suffered a dip in form at the wrong time of the season. They have failed to win their last four games and have picked up one point from a possible 12. Collins' side have won just twice in 10 matches and now they will be looking to get back to winning ways when it matters most at the weekend.

Speaking to the Yorkshire Post, Collins said: “For me, the players have shown over the last six or seven months that they can beat anyone on their day and are a match for anyone and it should give the players a lot of confidence.

"I wish they had points to show for it so that will be the tough part. We need to dust ourselves down.

"We thought we would get them, based on the way the game was going. But they should go ‘right, we need to put it right on Saturday.”

The midweek set of results has the Seasiders three points off of Oxford United and five off Barnsley. Should Blackpool defeat Barnsley then they would be just two points off of them going in to the final day opening up potentially another play-off spot.

Barnsley host Northampton Town at Oakwell in their final fixture whilst Oxford United who lost 1-0 to Lincoln City, giving the Imps a chance of reaching the play-offs face Stevenage at home on Friday before travelling to Exeter City. Lincoln, one of the in-form teams in the division face Cheltenham Town away before playing host to already-promoted Portsmouth in their final game.
