B&DYFL match of the week: Foxhall JFC v Fylde Coast Soccer Figo’s
Two under-10 teams made light of a heavy pitch after all the recent rain to serve up an excellent match of the week in the Blackpool and District Youth Football League.
Foxhall JFC and Fylde Coast Soccer Figo’s both displayed their fine form at Fishers Field on Saturday.

Foxhall manager Robbie Bentham told The Gazette: “They are the best team in our age group and it was a really good, close game. Everyone on my team put a shift in and I’m proud of them all.
“The pitch wasn’t the greatest after a lot of heavy rain but both teams played to a really high standard.”

Figo’s manager Ryan Riches agreed and said: “The team continued their good form in this end-to-end match against a very well-drilled Foxhall team.
“These teams have played two brilliant matches this season and both were great adverts for grassroots football on the Fylde coast.”
We first covered this Fylde Coast Soccer team last April, when they were completing their first B&DYFL season after moving over from the Poulton and District Primary League – and they have continued to go from strength to strength.

Foxhall joined the league as under-sevens and continue to make pleasing progress too.
Robbie added: “I’ve managed this side since they were in the old Foxhall Cubs as under-fives and sixes, and the core of the team has been together ever since.
“We’ve had a very good season and have really stepped up this year. We’ve stuck together as a team and are through to the quarter-finals of the Hogan Cup.”
It’s a sign of an exciting, action-packed encounter when both goalkeepers are mentioned among the star players.

Keeper Benji was the parents’ player of the match for Figos.
Besides some top-drawer saves, he demonstrated great maturity with his positioning and distribution.
The coaches’ choice was Jensen H, who was always a threat going forward.
He combined pace and strength to take opponents on and put the ball into dangerous areas.
Keeper Jenson made some brilliant saves for Foxhall and was their joint-player of the match.
That award was shared with Sienna, who bossed the defence and showed the boys how it’s done.
