Craig Mahon’s pride in his AFC Fylde players after their weekend win at Yeovil Town

Second will play third in the National League on Tuesday evening.

Craig Mahon hailed the collective effort so far as AFC Fylde look to continue their fine start to the National League season on Tuesday evening.

The Coasters visit Harrogate Town, having climbed into third position in the early league table with Saturday’s 4-1 win at Yeovil Town.

That made it 14 points from the first 21, leaving them two points behind second-placed Harrogate who have won five of their first seven as they seek an immediate return to the EFL.

Speaking after Saturday’s victory, Fylde’s head coach told club media: “I’m really big on having the right people in the right places at the right club and, by the look of it, we got it right today.

“I thought the players were outstanding and all the credit goes to them.

“Myself and the management staff can try to give them ideas, give them pointers, give them little things to think about or give them ideas that they might work on.

“When they step across that line, every bit of credit goes to those lads today; that goes from the lads who started to the lads who came on.

“I thought they were absolutely outstanding and I couldn’t be more proud of the players, the club, all the fans coming down; it was just a really good day for us.”

Harrogate, for their part, have taken 10 points from four home games this season after their 3-1 defeat of Tamworth on Saturday.

Mahon hopes he can name as strong a side as possible with Fylde seeking a fourth victory in five on the road.

He added: “We’ll have to make sure everybody’s OK but we’ll go into the next game full of confidence.

“We know that it’s going to be a really tough game Tuesday, but we have to back up this win with a top performance.”
