William Hill Bookmakers to close Kirkham branch in Market Square amid national purge on stores
The Kirkham branch of a major bookmaker’s chain is to close next month.
The shop in the Market Square is one of 200 Williams Hill shops shutting across the country amid cuts announced by parent company Evoke.
An Evoke spokesperson said: “Following a thorough review and further to increased cost pressures on the regulated sector, we have made the decision to close our William Hill shop in Kirkham in May 2026.
“We would like to thank local customers and the community for playing with us, and hope to see them at one of our other stores - or online at WilliamHill.com - soon.”

William Hill is said to operate some 1,300 betting shops across the country. and the closure affected some 15 per cent of them.
The shops have been deemed "no longer sustainable" in a "thorough review" by Evoke.
