Maddie, a current student at Blackpool Sixth Form College, will join her friend Charlotte for the Northumberland Coast Mighty Hike, a demanding route that takes participants along rugged coastal paths and scenic landscapes while covering a significant distance on foot.

The pair have been training and preparing for the event, which is known for its physical demands and unpredictable coastal conditions.

For Maddie, it marks an opportunity to push herself outside of her comfort zone while taking on a personal challenge alongside a close friend.

She said she is looking forward to the experience and the chance to complete the hike together, describing it as a goal that requires commitment, preparation and determination.

Alongside the challenge itself, Maddie has set a modest personal fundraising target of £250, with support from friends and family helping her work towards that goal.

The Northumberland Coast Mighty Hike is one of a series of organised endurance walks that attract participants from across the country, with many taking part in memory of, or in support of, causes important to them.

Maddie said on her fundraising page: “I’m taking on the Northumberland Coast Mighty Hike, pushing my limits to raise £250 in support of Macmillan Cancer Support, because no one should have to face cancer alone.

“Today, almost 3.5 million people in the UK are living with cancer, a figure that's growing steadily. Macmillan’s goal is to be there from diagnosis through every step of the journey.

“That’s where we come in. Your donation, no matter the size, will help ensure that no one has to face cancer without the care, compassion, and expert support they deserve.

“Together, we can make a Mighty difference.”

Friends, family and members of the public are being encouraged to support Maddie and Charlotte as they take on the challenge and aim to complete the demanding coastal route.
