Update on future of iconic former nightclub in Poulton

“Overall, the proposed works will improve the appearance of the unit.”

Updated plans have been submitted to Wyre Council to turn former night club premises in Poulton into office space.

In August 2024, a planning application was submitted to Wyre Council to turn 2 Vicarage Road, which has been home to various nightclubs over the past 30 years, into an office.

Those plans came as something of a surprise as back in July 2023 a planning application was also submitted to turn the site into a fitness studio and wellbeing centre.

However the 2024 application, submitted by the agent Abbott Hull Associates on behalf of an applicant called Mrs R Kendrick, involved the exact same site and set out entirely different plans for its use.

The ground floor of the building is currently occupied by the Bistro Italia restaurant.

Now new plans have just been submitted this month, seeking some amendments to the office plans being proposed by applicants Nito property Ltd.

The new Planning Statement, submitted on behalf of the applicants by Llewellin Architectural Design Ltd, said: “This application seeks to introduce a modern restaurant front to meet incoming tenant requirements.

“A number of previous alterations have replaced other sections of the existing frontage with more modern elements and therefore a precedent has already been established.

“The proposed works have been carefully designed to reflect the exterior of the building using materials that will match the existing.

“The proposed design respects the scale, proportions and appearance of the existing building.

“Overall, the proposed works will improve the appearance of the unit to the general benefit of occupiers and users and to the amenity of the area as a whole. “
