Blackpool Grand Theatre has announced the first casting for the highly anticipated UK and Ireland tour, which will arrive in Blackpool from Monday 11 to Saturday 16 January next year, bringing the psychological thriller to the Fylde Coast for a limited run.
John Partridge, best known to millions for his long-running role as Christian Clarke in BBC’s EastEnders, will lead the production as the sophisticated yet terrifying Dr Lecter, one of modern fiction’s most recognisable villains.

The production promises a fresh theatrical interpretation of Thomas Harris’s gripping story, which also features FBI trainee Clarice Starling’s pursuit of a serial killer with Lecter becoming an unlikely but crucial source of insight.
A seasoned West End performer, Partridge’s extensive stage career spans major productions including Cats, A Chorus Line, Grease and Starlight Express, alongside recent acclaimed roles in new writing and touring theatre.
His casting signals a high-profile launch for the production, which aims to reimagine the suspense and intensity of the original novel and Oscar-winning film for the stage.
The role of Hannibal Lecter, immortalised on screen by Sir Anthony Hopkins, is expected to be a demanding and psychologically complex centrepiece of the adaptation.
Producers have described the stage version as a “bold and immersive retelling” designed to bring audiences closer than ever to the story’s tension and moral unease.

Head of Audiences, Marketing and Sales at Blackpool Grand Theatre, Andrew Howard said: “We are beyond thrilled to host the World Stage Play Premiere of The Silence of the Lambs, a landmark cultural moment for Blackpool Grand and a once-in-a-generation theatre event.
“This story is nothing short of legendary: the film famously swept the Academy Awards’ coveted ‘Big Five’, Best Picture, Director, Actor, Actress and Adapted Screenplay, an achievement matched by only two other films in history.”
Tickets for The Silence of the Lambs at Blackpool Grand Theatre are expected to be in high demand when they go on sale.
