Beloved Fylde coast Wetherspoons pub receives new hygiene rating from Food Standards Authority

The Railway Hotel Wetherspoons pub in Lytham has received the highest hygiene rating under Fylde Borough Council's Scores on the Doors programme.

The popular pub, located on Station Road, was awarded a five-star rating following an inspection by the council's food safety team. The Scores on the Doors programme is designed to provide transparency around hygiene standards in eateries across the borough, including pubs, restaurants, takeaways, and clubs.

The scheme rates businesses on a scale from zero to five, with a five-star rating indicating excellent hygiene practices.

In the case of the Railway Hotel, the inspectors awarded the top rating after assessing the establishment on three key areas: hygiene, structural conditions, and confidence in management. These criteria help ensure that food is prepared in a clean and well-managed environment, protecting the health and safety of customers.

Pub manager, Becki White, said: “We are delighted that we have gained the top rating and I’m sure our customers will welcome the news too. Standards of hygiene at the pub are of paramount importance.

Food hygiene ratings, issued by local authorities, are part of the Food Standards Agency (FSA)'s efforts to keep food preparation safe for the public. A five-star rating means the business is considered to have very high standards, with inspectors confident that hygiene and food safety practices are well-maintained.
