The initiative returns first to Poulton-le-Fylde on Saturday May 30, followed by Garstang on Saturday 6 June, offering young traders the chance to showcase their work in busy town centre locations.

Poulton event to kick off summer series

The first event will take place at Teanlowe Shopping Centre in Poulton, where young entrepreneurs will be given free stalls to sell handmade goods and creative products.

Alongside the market, visitors can take part in complimentary interactive arts and crafts activities, designed to make the day welcoming and engaging for all ages.

Garstang to host live performances and stalls

The second market will be held in Cherestanc Square, Garstang, running from 10am to 3pm.

As well as market stalls run by young traders, the event will feature live performances and hands-on art activities, turning the town centre into a lively hub of creativity and community participation.

Creating opportunities

The Teenage Market - is a national initiative delivered by Place for Youth, providing young people with a free, low-risk opportunity to develop business ideas, sell products and perform in public spaces.

Wyre’s programme has already seen strong success, with four events held between late 2025 and early 2026 across the district.

Those events generated £5,239 in sales and saw 1,336 products sold, demonstrating both strong public support and the entrepreneurial drive of local young people.

Some traders will return for the upcoming markets, including a group from Blackpool Sixth Form who previously sold out of their handmade candles in Poulton.

Councillor Peter Le-Marinel, Portfolio Holder for Planning Policy and Economic Development at Wyre Council, said: “It’s incredibly encouraging to see such strong engagement and results from the previous events, and we hope the next two markets will be just as popular, continuing to inspire and support our young entrepreneurs.”

Joe Barratt, Executive Director of Place for Youth CIC said: "We’re absolutely delighted to be returning to Poulton and Garstang to deliver two further Teenage Market events, following the fantastic response we saw to the events earlier this year.”
