“These improvements will provide a smoother, safer and more durable road, reducing the need for future repairs and ongoing disruption.”

Six weeks of essential improvement works to a key Blackpool road is in the final stages, says council bosses.

Since Monday, July 27 maintenance and resurfacing works have been taking place on St Annes Road between Waterloo Road and Pedders Lane. The project was planned following concerns raised by residents and will focus on carrying out long-term repairs beneath the road surface to improve its condition and durability.

The scheme has involved removing and repairing damaged sections of the carriageway, strengthening the road's base layers and resurfacing the route to create a smoother, safer and more resilient road. The improvements are intended to reduce the need for future repairs and minimise ongoing disruption for motorists.

A spokesman from Blackpool Council said: “We’re now approaching the end of the resurfacing works on St Annes Road, with the new surface being laid following extensive structural repairs beneath the carriageway.

“These improvements will provide a smoother, safer and more durable road, reducing the need for future repairs and ongoing disruption.

“Thank you to everyone in the local community for your co-operation during the works, particularly over the summer holiday period.”
