A 21-year-old man has since been arrested on suspicion of assault causing grievous bodily harm.

A spokesperson for Lancashire Police said: “While we do not have any formal suspect descriptions at this stage, we know there were people who witnessed an altercation between the suspects and victim.

“We would ask that those witnesses urgently come forward, and we also want to hear from anyone with CCTV, dashcam or mobile phone footage which could assist us with our enquiries.

“We want to reassure the public that this is being treated as an isolated incident and there is no wider threat to the public.

“As a precaution – and as is standard practice when incidents of this nature occur – we have increased visible patrols in the area as a precaution.

“We know there were a number of people in the area who potentially witnessed the incident, some possibly filming and others driving past.

“We would ask that they get in contact with the police as soon as possible.”
