Major update on controversial plans for new industrial estate in Fylde coast village Bilsborrow next to A6

The appeal is currently being considered by Wyre Borough Council.

A planning appeal is currently underway for a controversial 13-unit industrial complex in Bilsborrow, near Garstang , which has sparked outrage amongst residents.

If approved, the devise application- which was initially lodged in June 2022- would see the construction of a new 13-unit business park off Garstang Road, along with the necessary access roads and parking.

The plans were originally rejected in 2025 after Wyre Borough Council decided that the proposal ‘would cause harm to the rural character and appearance of the area.’

An appeal for the plans is currently underway, with a new decision from the Planning Inspectorate expected in the coming weeks.

Bilsborrow’s residents have been vocal in their condemnation of the plans over the previous months. Local farmer and County Councillor for Wyre Rural East James Tomlinson described the unit as ‘completely wrong’ in a previous interview with the Gazette, adding that rural communities ‘must fight back’ over similar developments.

More details to follow as the appeal progresses.
