Blackpool influencer Charlotte Dawson addresses National Television Awards "row" with fiancee Matt Sarsfield
“I mean, it's just criminal, isn't it?”
Charlotte Dawson has addressed reports that she and her partner, Matt Sarsfield, had a serious argument at the National Television Awards.
Insisting that the disagreement was over whether they should stay out or return to their hotel in a video posted on Instagram, the Blackpool-born reality star explained that the pair had been photographed while discussing their plans for the evening.
“I mean, it's just criminal, isn't it? It's criminal posting pictures and videos looking like that, and this is the reality right now. This is the reality right now,” she said. “Matthew, me and Matthew are in the Daily Mail for arguing because some pap was taking sneaky pictures and videos of us having a discussion because I didn't want to go home, and Matthew wanted to go back to the hotel.
“As always, in true Shazza style, she never wants to go home. She doesn't want the party to end, the night to end. So I wanted to stay out, and Matt wanted to go home, it was midnight. It was Cinderella time, and obviously we did go home. And I'm very thankful for that. Even though I did have a couple of glasses when I got back to the hotel, but he got me home.
“So yeah, we've not fell out. We're best pals. We're lovers. We're not fell out.”
The comments follow footage of the couple appearing to argue at the awards, with Sarsfield seen walking away as Dawson appeared to speak to him. Dawson, 33, and Sarsfield, 35, have been together since meeting in 2016 and are engaged. They have three children: Noah, five, Jude, three, and Gigi, one, and live in Lancashire.
The couple have also previously spoken publicly about difficulties in their relationship. During her pregnancy with Gigi, Dawson discovered that Sarsfield had been sexting another woman. She later said she felt “blindsided and humiliated” by what happened.
Sarsfield subsequently moved out of their home, but the pair attended couples therapy and later reconciled. Dawson has said the experience helped them get their relationship back on track and that she is “really, really happy” despite their arguments.
They remain engaged, although they have disagreed over their preferred wedding plans. Sarsfield has wanted to elope to Las Vegas, while Dawson has said she wants a larger celebration and for their daughter to be the flower girl.
